Shattered chevrons baby quilt
made for a brand new baby nephew

Baby shattered chevron #quilt all finished. Just needs a label once its recipient actually arrives! Pattern is an upsized #skillbuilderbom block by @pileofabric

Pattern: I upscaled the shattered chevron block from the Pile o Fabric Skill Builder BOM 2013. The HSTs are 5.25" unfinished
Fabric: All kona solids. Background is Kona snow.
Backing: Whimsicol panel in mist from Nordika by Jeni Baker for Art Gallery Fabrics
Binding: Some grey quilter's linen
Size: approx 38" square
Quilting: Wavy lines with my walking foot (a stitch setting on my Janome) approx 2" apart

Giant songbird star 2
This was actually the first giant star I pieced (the pattern gives you 2 similar or identical quilts) but I wasn't happy with the points so the other was made for gifting instead.


Pattern: Giant Star by Jeni Baker from In Color Order. .
Fabric: Songbird by Carina Gardner for Riley Blake. Background is a cream Essex linen which caused me a lot of woe!
Backing: Leftover songbird plus a stashed piece of

Happy-Go-Lucky baby quilt
made for my littlest girl. I won this pattern in a giveaway and just had to follow through on my promise to make it in Happy Go Lucky!



Pattern: Splitting Squares by Anna from Quilting along the Grain
Fabric: Happy Go Lucky layer cake by Bonnie & Camille for Moda. Background is I think Kona Snow.
Backing: Some lovely flannel - can't remember the name
Binding: Anna Maria Horner Little Folks green voile for a sweet silky binding
Size: Approx 42" square
Quilting: Wavy lines with my walking foot (a stitch setting on my Janome) approx 1.5" apart

Pretty pink posy hourglass
for my (pink obsessed) eldest daughter


Pattern: I modified the hourglass block tutorial at Cluck Cluck Sew, starting with 9" squares to maximise my fabric
Fabric: a fat eighth bundle of Posy by Aneela Hoey, plus a couple of extra prints - some pink seedlets from Flea Market Fancy and some sage green Lizzy house jewels. Background is an off white solid (moda bella off white I think) plus some kona flesh.
Backing: At DD1's request, half flannel and half a pink sew stitchy print plus a pieced scrappy strip
Binding: Pink and sage green Lizzy House jewels (the best binding print ever, you know)
Size: ?
Quilting: straight lines 1/4" to each side of seam lines.

Chicopee pinwheels


Pattern: Moda Bake Shop Pinwheels quilt
Fabric: Chicopee by Denyse Schmidt for Free Spirit fabrics (jelly rolls) plus some Kona Putty
Backing: More chicopee prints plus a pieced strip
Binding: Orange Lizzy house Jewels
Size: approx 68" square
Quilting: Professionally long armed by Chris in an all over paisley pattern in orange thread

Scrappy Tripalong picnic rug
Not actually a quilt but a very much adored picnic rug

Pattern: Scrappy Trips around the World, made as part of the crazy Scrappy Tripalong
Fabric: Scraps! Of course.
Backing: A brown floral semi fugly from stash. Great for flinging down onto dampish ground.
Binding: Nope. It has a tie made of some pink Lizzy House jewels though
Size: Ummmmmm
Quilting: Not actually quilted ..... Just sewn RST with the backing and turned out. I had intended to hand tie it but never did.

Giant Star Quilt 1

Pattern: Giant Star by Jeni Baker from In Color Order. Sized down slightly so the HSTs fit under my biggest 16.5" square ruler (so starting with 17" squares), with an added scrappy border.
Fabric: Songbird by Carina Gardner for Riley Blake. Background is a cream Art Gallery lace elements

Binding: Art Gallery cream oval elements

Quilting: Straight lines echoing the star points in 4 quadrants

Backing: pieced from multi pezzy prints

Quilting:  FMQ loopy swirl. this was my last attempt at FMQ before I gave it up as a bad job!

Winging It 

Pattern: The long finished charm pack quilt along from freckled whimsy
Fabric: 3 Just Wing It by Momo for Moda charm packs. background is free spirit solid in slate.
Backing: More Just Wing It with a pieced strip
Binding: More Just Wing It (loved this line, can you tell?!)
Size: 72" square
Quilting: Echo quilting along the solid pattern

Love pink baby quilt 
for my friend's baby girl

Pattern: it's a jelly roll race quilt (strips joined with straight not mitred seams)
Fabric: Always and Forever jelly roll by Deb Strain for Moda
Backing: a red bedsheet from TK Maxx which was a beast to quilt through!
Binding: Pinks Lizzy house jewels
Size: 52" by 65"
Quilting: Stitch in the ditch along each seam line

Upside down Owls

Pattern: Wonky block tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew with added sashing and borders. Pieced backing uses some sparkle punch stars
Fabric, backing and binding: All cheap quilting cottons from Spotlight in NZ
Size: ?
Quilting: Stitch in the ditch around the blocks

Sherbet bake 
now lives with my friend's little girl in New Zealand

Fabric: A sherbet pips layer cake by Aneela Hoey for Moda
Backing: an aqua sheet from TK Maxx
Binding: a red sherbet pips print
Size: 55" by 64" approx
Quilting: Another FMQ loopy swirl in white thread

First quilt - kaleidoscope quilt 
for my eldest daughter. She has of course now snubbed it because it isn't pink!

Fabrics -  Selection of greens and reds from Pink Castle Fabrics. Background is kona snow
Backing -  lime bella solid plus a pieced strip
Binding - a red cross hatch
Quilting -  a FMQ loopy swirl in ill advised beige thread
